Tips and Trends | Artwork as Design

Choosing the right art for your home should be part of an ongoing enjoyable process. It’s not just about making the space look good; it’s about getting emotional and letting the artist’s vision reflect your own sense of style and beauty.   Start to define what really appeals to you and you will be well on your way to starting a great collection.

There are so many styles to choose from. Do you gravitate toward classical, contemporary, landscapes or graphic pieces? Don’t feel you have to stay with one style of artwork in your home or within one room. If you love it, you can make it work in your space. Focus on creating a feeling. An English Country Home will have distinctly different ambiance than an Modern Urban Space.  Consider the medium. Don't limit yourself to paint on canvas; there are many interesting mediums available such as silk, photography, velum and wood that add intrigue and uniqueness to a space.

This weekend, our designers at Capoferro will be attending the 12th Annual Toronto International Art Fair with our clients.  Many people focus solely on choosing the finishes, such as paint, tile etc., however, a beautiful piece of artwork can make a room sing. Artwork is a very important design element in any home and should not be overlooked.
TIAF is on for 4 days, and includes exhibits from 109 fine art galleries from 13 countries along with the country’s leading cultural organizations.  It is an exhibition and sale of 20th and 21st century artworks.
